CVTas User Guide

Welcome to CVTas — the Continuity Village Tasmania planning system.

What is CVTas?

A site selection and planning system for a self-sufficient community in Tasmania, focused on AI safety research resilience. The project aims to prepare a remote location for researchers doing math/philosophy-heavy (not GPU-heavy) alignment work, with room for emergency late-joiners.

Scale: between 20 and 75 people, of whom around 1/3 research focused, with the rest being specialist skills, community and mental health, food production, and stakeholders.

Key Features

Score Properties

Open the Scoring Wizard, choose your name, and score properties one at a time. Each evaluator's scores are stored independently. The wizard walks through all criteria with large, touch-friendly controls.

Browse and Compare

The Property Database lets you filter and sort all properties by region, price, score, and status. Use Property Comparison for side-by-side analysis.

Scoring Profiles

Scoring Profiles let you adjust dimension weights (Location, Self-Sustainability, Resilience, Security, Appeal) and see how rankings change. Evaluator Comparison shows how different people scored.

Property Showcases

Showcases present detailed operational plans for top candidate properties, including budgets, capacity planning, and implementation phases.

Food Production Planning

Food Plans model permaculture-based food security for different population sizes. Create plans, link them to properties, and generate production forecasts. The Assumptions page documents all data sources.

Capital & Timeline

Capital Timeline shows property affordability across different funding scenarios. The Project Timeline provides a Gantt-style view of all milestones.

Scenario Planning

The Scenario Planner models existential risk scenarios and their impact on planning.

Browser Compatibility

CVTas works best with modern browsers: Chrome/Edge, Firefox, Safari.
